Watch Manual
FOR ALL AUTOMATIC WATCHES: Thank you for trusting us to assemble your new watch! Let's get you familiar with your expertly crafted timepiece and guide you on how to prepare it for use.
Movement: The watch models above incorporate either the NH35 or NH34 (GMT) self-winding mechanisms. They are automatic mechanical calibers, meaning there is no battery and they operate via motion and/or manual winding.
Winding the movement: During transit and when it's not worn for a while, the mechanism can deplete its power reserve over time, and the watch will cease functioning. This is typical, and you simply need to wind it anew or gently agitate it, depending on how much charge remains. A fully powered mechanism requires approximately 55-65 complete rotations of the winding stem and will maintain operation for up to 40+ hours.
To wind the watch, unwind the crown (revolve it towards you) until it 'springs' out, then turn the crown in a clockwise direction (away from you) approximately 20-50 rotations, depending on its power requirement. This will energize the mainspring and restart the self-winding mechanism.
Adjusting the date, GMT, and time: To set the date, unwind the crown (revolve it towards you) until it 'springs' out, then carefully pull it outward until it engages the initial position. Turn the crown counter-clockwise (towards you) to adjust the date.
If you have a GMT model, remain in this setting and turn clockwise (away from you) to adjust the GMT hand's position. Kindly observe that one complete revolution of the GMT hand covers 24 hours (unlike the hour hand which covers 12 hours), therefore the GMT indicator progresses at half the rate of the hour indicator. This corresponds with the 24-hour bezel as well.
Now, to adjust the time, draw the crown outward once more until it secures into its outermost position. Then turn the crown clockwise (away from you) to adjust the time. Kindly observe that you should only turn clockwise in this position for time adjustment. Revolving counter-clockwise in this setting might induce undue stress and diminish the lifespan of the mechanism.
Fastening the crown: Now that you have completed configuring your timepiece. Press the crown inward and revolve it clockwise (away from you) until it is completely threaded and secured. This is necessary to ensure the crown is entirely sealed.
FOR ALL CHRONOGRAPH WATCHES: Thank you for trusting us to assemble your new watch! Let's get you familiar with your expertly crafted timepiece and guide you on how to prepare it for use.
Movement: Our Daytona models incorporate the hybrid VK63 chronograph caliber. They operate on battery power and do not necessitate winding like our self-winding mechanisms.
Setting the time: To adjust the time, unwind the central crown (revolve it towards you) until it 'springs' out, then draw the crown outward until it engages its outermost position. Now turn the crown clockwise (away from you) to adjust the time. Kindly observe that you should only turn clockwise in this position for time adjustment. Revolving counter-clockwise in this setting might induce undue stress and diminish the lifespan of the mechanism.
Securing the crown: Now that you have completed configuring your timepiece. Press the crown inward and revolve it clockwise (away from you) until it is completely threaded and secured. This is necessary to ensure the crown is entirely sealed.
Sweeping hand: Kindly observe that the third hand (with the arrow indicator) does not operate as a conventional second hand. It is specifically utilized for the stopwatch function of this watch and is why it remains fixed at the 12 o'clock mark when the chronograph is not in operation. The true second hand resides on the lower sub-dial.
Operating the chronograph: To use the chronograph function, first unwind the upper and lower chronograph buttons. Utilize the top button to initiate and halt the chronograph and the lower button to reset the chronograph to its initial state.
Subsequent to using the chronograph, kindly ensure that you re-thread the buttons tightly. This is necessary to guarantee a complete seal.
Please observe that the chronograph function must not be operated in precipitation or submerged.
FOR BLACK BAY CHRONO WATCHES: Mechanism: Our Black Bay Chrono timepieces incorporate the hybrid VK64 chronograph caliber. They operate on battery power and do not necessitate winding like our self-winding mechanisms.
Adjusting the date and time: To set the date, unwind the crown (revolve it towards you) until it 'springs' out, then carefully pull it outward until it engages the initial position. Turn the crown clockwise (away from you) to adjust the date. To adjust the time, draw the crown outward until it engages the outermost position. Sweeping hand: Kindly observe that the third hand (with the arrow indicator) does not operate as a conventional second hand. It is specifically utilized for the stopwatch function of this watch and is why it remains fixed at the 12 o'clock mark when the chronograph is not in operation. There is no dedicated second hand for the Black Bay Chrono.
